About me

I believe in therapy.

I'm Lia, an integrative therapist. My own experience of therapy shaped my decision to become a therapist, and I know how valuable it can be to feel seen and to have somewhere to bring the things that don't yet make sense.

I work with the person in front of me rather than following one particular method. My approach draws from person-centred, psychodynamic, existential and transpersonal therapies. We might look at what's happening in your life now, alongside the relationships and experiences that have shaped how you see yourself and others.

I'm interested in the things that can be difficult to put into words - as well as the patterns that become clearer when we have the time and space to look at them together.

I see therapy as a collaborative process. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong, or what you want to change. We can begin with where you are and, over time, explore what is happening for you and what might sit underneath it.

I work with both what is spoken and what may be harder to put into words. Where appropriate, this can include paying attention to physical sensations, emotions and responses in the body, alongside talking therapy. I also have an interest in imagery, metaphor and dreams where these feel relevant to the work.

I offer an open, non-judgemental space where you can speak honestly about your experiences and feel able to bring different parts of yourself to the work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
