About me

I am a warm, empathic therapist with twenty years of experience. It's my intention to work with you compassionately and respectfully. I am open and non-judgemental and I'm passionate about the benefits of counselling. I am a registered member of the BACP and I work from a person-centred perspective. I adhere to the ethical framework of the BACP.

I started out working with young people at a large comprehensive school in South East London and then joined the counselling team as a lead counsellor at The Brit School in Croydon. I spent around ten years working in these schools, working one to one and in groups that helped to identify young people who were struggling.

During this time I also joined a tutor team that was training first and second-year counselling diploma students on a BACP-accredited course, this also led to me supervising trainee supervision students.

I went on to become the clinical lead for an organisation called MOSAC (now renamed We Stand) who support non-abusing parents and carers of sexually abused children and also supports many of the children themselves who have suffered child sexual abuse. I ran both the face-to-face counselling teams and developed the online counselling teams to support those parents who lived outside London. I managed the training managers and the play therapy teams and was the lead safeguarder.

Throughout all of the years I have been qualified I have also had my private practice and I have worked with both adults and young clients.

I’m passionate about diversity and recognise each client as the individual human being that they are.

I cannot thank enough, every single person that I have worked with up till now, who has given me the privilege of allowing me into their inner world and trusted me with their experiences and feelings.

Leona.

Recent Feedback:

"I just wanted to say thank you as these sessions are such a big help at the moment, as are you! I feel I've learned more about myself in the last few weeks than I have my whole life up to then! Even though it is difficult I feel like I'm on the right track- so thank you and thank you for being so kind !"

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I offer one-to-one counselling online, I’m aware of how challenging it can be to reach out and ask for support.

My work starts with creating a relationship that can grow into a solid, trusting, warm and non-judgemental space.

It just starts with a phone call or email and we can go from there at your pace. I can offer short or long-term counselling.

Some clients stay for long-term counselling then return later to work on another issue for a shorter time, I’m always happy to accommodate what works for you as the client.
