About me

You may be used to appearing capable while privately feeling overwhelmed, anxious or exhausted. Perhaps you spend a lot of time looking after other people, feel under pressure to keep going, or find yourself wondering why you never seem to feel good enough. You do not need to have everything worked out before beginning therapy, and you do not need to arrive with the right words.

I’m Lauren, a person-centred counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I offer online and telephone counselling to adults aged 18 and over across the UK.

My approach is warm, compassionate and non-judgemental. I will not diagnose you, tell you what you should do or treat you as a problem to be fixed. Instead, we will explore what you are experiencing at a pace that feels manageable, making space for the feelings, relationships and pressures that may have shaped how you see yourself.

There are often good reasons we have become who we are and good reasons we feel the way we feel. Therapy can offer an opportunity to understand these experiences more deeply, reconnect with your own needs and begin making choices that feel more authentic to you.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call so that we can briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling and whether working together might feel right. Wherever you hope therapy might lead, I will meet you with curiosity, compassion and respect.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have more than ten years’ experience supporting people affected by mental health difficulties, trauma, addiction, and challenging life circumstances. I hold an MSc with Distinction in Counselling and Psychotherapy, as well as an MSc in Psychology, and I work in a trauma-informed and non-pathologising way.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
