About me

Hello, I’m Laura, a BACP registered integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with individuals and couples, both online and in-person.

People often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in painful patterns, disconnected from themselves or from the people around them, or carrying things they have been holding alone for a long time. My role is to offer a space where you can begin to make sense of what is happening, feel supported in exploring it, and find new ways forward.

My approach is person-centred, relational, trauma-informed, and tailored to your individual needs. I am not a passive listener — I bring my full presence to sessions, offering warmth, honesty, support, and challenge where helpful. Together we pay close attention to how you relate to yourself, to others, and to the therapeutic relationship itself, using this as a foundation for growth and change.

I work with both individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, trauma, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. I have a grounding in attachment theory and work sensitively with the impact that past experiences can have on present difficulties, while staying connected to what feels important and meaningful in your life now.

Couples Therapy
Many couples find themselves caught in patterns that feel difficult to shift alone — conversations escalating quickly, emotional distance growing, one person pursuing while the other withdraws, or both partners feeling unheard, criticised, or disconnected.

In couples therapy, I help you slow these interactions down and understand what is happening beneath them. My role is to help each of you feel heard more clearly and respond to one another differently.

My work with couples is active and structured while remaining compassionate and collaborative. Together we explore the patterns that have developed in your relationship, the emotional roots beneath defensive reactions, and the ways you might begin relating to one another differently.

I draw from relational and trauma-informed approaches alongside evidence-based relationship therapy models including Imago Relationship Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. The aim is not to decide what your relationship should look like, but to support the two of you in finding a way forward that feels more honest, connected, and sustainable.

Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, I offer a space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences at your own pace. Alongside reflective conversation, I may also bring in creative or experiential techniques where helpful, depending on what feels most supportive for you.

I place particular importance on emotional safety, nervous system regulation, and helping you remain connected to yourself throughout the therapeutic process. While therapy can involve looking back and understanding the roots of present struggles, our work will always stay grounded in what feels useful and relevant to your life in the present.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Master's degree in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy and was awarded a distinction for both my degree and my research in this field. I have worked with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, overwhelm, relationship challenges, abuse, loss, stress, and vague feelings of stuckness. I have worked with a diverse range of client experience and bring an open, non-judgmental approach to therapy. I have also previously worked as a suicide prevention therapist.

As a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to a robust ethical framework and engage in regular training and supervision to ensure I continue to offer the best possible support to my clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
