About me

Anxiety, Stress and Mental Health Support and Counselling in Colchester

If you've found yourself here, there's a good chance life has been feeling heavier than usual.

Perhaps anxiety is taking over your thoughts, you're exhausted from overthinking, or you're struggling with OCD, low mood, trauma, or low self-esteem. Maybe you've become so used to coping that nobody around you realises how difficult things feel beneath the surface.

Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to have everything figured out before starting counselling. You don't need the "right" words or even a clear idea of what you need. Sometimes the hardest part is simply reaching out.

My role is to offer a calm, supportive space where you can slow things down, make sense of what's happening, and begin to move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

I'm Laura, an experienced counsellor based in Colchester, offering therapy for adults in person and online.

I believe that feeling comfortable with your counsellor is one of the most important parts of therapy. My aim is to create a space where you feel genuinely listened to, accepted and understood, without judgement or pressure to be anything other than yourself.

Whether you're facing something recent or carrying experiences that have been with you for years, we can explore them together in a way that feels safe and manageable.

How I Can Help

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Some know exactly what's wrong, while others simply know that things don't feel like they used to.

I regularly support people with:

  • Anxiety, panic and constant overthinking
  • OCD and intrusive thoughts
  • Depression and persistent low mood
  • Low self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Trauma and the lasting impact of difficult experiences
  • Life changes, relationship breakdowns and loss
  • Workplace stress and burnout
  • Family difficulties and relationship patterns that feel hard to change
  • Living with chronic illness or long-term health conditions
  • Or a combination of the above!

You don't need a diagnosis or a specific problem to benefit from counselling. If life feels overwhelming, that's reason enough to seek support.

My Approach

I work in a warm, relational way, which means I believe healing happens through feeling safe enough to be yourself with another person.

I won't analyse every word you say or sit silently waiting for you to fill the space. Instead, we'll work together, exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences with curiosity and compassion.

Some sessions might involve untangling anxious thoughts. Others may focus on understanding old patterns, processing difficult emotions, or simply giving yourself permission to say things you've never felt able to say before.

Therapy isn't about fixing who you are. It's about understanding yourself more deeply and finding ways to live with greater confidence, self-compassion and ease.

What You Can Expect from Therapy
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you've never spoken to anyone before. It's completely normal to feel unsure or nervous.

If you're wondering whether counselling is right for you, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have before we arrange a first session.

Finding the right therapist matters, and there's no pressure or obligation. If it feels like we could work well together, I'd love to support you on that journey.
