About me
Anxiety, Stress and Mental Health Support and Counselling in Colchester
Are you searching for support because you’re feeling overwhelmed by Anxiety, OCD, Depression, Trauma, or Low self-esteem? Are you finding it hard to cope with repetitive thoughts, relationship difficulties, or anger that feels out of control? Maybe you appear to be managing on the outside, yet inside you feel exhausted, disconnected, lonely or stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break.
I’m Laura Lee, an experienced counsellor offering calm, confidential, and inclusive therapy for women, men, and people of all gender identities. I work in a relational way with adults, including many professionals, who want support with anxiety, emotional distress, and navigating difficult life experiences in a safe, non-judgemental space.
How I Can Help
I regularly support people who are experiencing:
- Anxiety, panic, chronic worry, and overthinking
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and intrusive thoughts
- Depression and persistent low mood
- Low self-esteem and low self-confidence
- The emotional impact of trauma
- Major life changes, including divorce or relationship breakdown, retirement, and shifts in identity or purpose
- The psychological impact of chronic health issues or long-term conditions
- Ongoing stress, burnout, and pressure linked to professional roles
- Difficulties connected to family issues or long-standing relationship patterns
You don’t need to have a clear goal or a specific label to start counselling. Many people come feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or simply tired of carrying things on their own.
My Approach
I offer an integrative approach, tailoring therapy to you rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. Depending on your needs, I may draw on:
Person-centred counselling
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
Mindfulness and grounding techniques
Hypnotherapy
NLP-informed approaches
For me, the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in our work together. We’ll explore what’s contributing to your difficulties, help you manage anxiety and emotional distress more effectively, and develop tools that support you in everyday life, not just during sessions.
What You Can Expect from Therapy
Clients often tell me they value my calm, compassionate style and the safe space I create to feel genuinely heard. Therapy with me is:
- Inclusive and non-judgemental
- Collaborative and paced to suit you
- Focused on both understanding and meaningful change
- Over time, many people notice reduced anxiety and intrusive thoughts, improved self-confidence, greater emotional clarity, and a stronger sense of resilience and self-trust.
