About me

Welcome!

I’m Laura, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, and I offer confidential therapy online and by telephone.

I believe that seeking therapy is not about being “fixed”. It is about having a safe space to understand yourself, make sense of what you have experienced, and explore what you need to move forward. I offer a compassionate, warm and genuinely non-judgemental space where you can be yourself — without having to have all the answers!

With more than 10 years’ experience across the NHS and private organisations, I have worked with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodevelopmental differences and complex emotional and relational difficulties. I have also worked extensively with children and young people, families, schools and complex care systems.

My approach is integrative, meaning I don’t believe therapy should be a “one-size-fits-all” experience. Every person brings their own history, personality, relationships and circumstances into the therapy room. I therefore draw upon different psychological theories and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, adapting our work to you and what feels most helpful.

Alongside my clinical work, I have undertaken extensive postgraduate training in counselling psychology and am currently completing my professional doctorate in Counselling Psychology. This has given me the opportunity to combine substantial clinical experience with advanced psychological training, research and reflective practice.

I work collaboratively with my clients. You remain the expert in your own life, while I bring my experience, psychological knowledge and therapeutic skills to help you explore what may be keeping you stuck and identify meaningful ways forward.

Whether you are struggling with something that has happened recently, carrying experiences from the past, feeling overwhelmed by your emotions, or simply know that something needs to change, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Therapy is a journey, and you don’t have to know exactly where you’re going before you begin.

If you feel that working together might be right for you, please get in touch. I’d be happy to arrange an initial conversation so we can discuss what you’re looking for and whether I can support you.

NCPS
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

BACP

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
