Lara Tucker Adv Dip Counselling, Accredited Registered MNCS
I am a deeply compassionate, understanding and professional therapist, a registered accredited member of the National Counselling Society, with many years experience of working with people with wide ranging difficulties, both as a counsellor and in my previous career in the Public Sector. I have particular experience and understanding of working with Depression, Anxiety and stress, low self esteem/confidence and relationship difficulties.
We all need or would benefit from counselling at various times in our lives, for many different reasons. Counselling helps us to work through the difficulties we are experiencing and helps us to find solutions and coping strategies. This enables us to live a more fulfilled and happier life, where we can begin to value and believe in ourselves and change the patterns we have become stuck in.
I offer a safe, supportive, respectful and non judgemental space for you to be able to explore your own experiences and difficulties. I have trained in a number of theoretical approaches including Person Centred, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I also include Mindfulness and the use of imaginative creative techniques, to provide a wide range of knowledge and techniques to draw from, as we are all unique individuals with different needs.
I work with anyone who is 18 or over, practicing at STUDIO one therapy and wellbeing hub in Southernhay West, close to Princesshay in Exeter. In addition I also offer walk and talk therapy in a rural setting on the outskirts of Exeter. This can be of benefit to those of you who find it difficult to explore your feelings and experiences in the confines of a therapy room, for those who find it helpful to be moving and out in the resources that nature provides, or you might like to gain confidence in venturing into the countryside for your own mental and physical wellbeing.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I have many years experience of working with people with a wide range of difficulties and experiences. I have particular understanding and experience of working with people who are struggling with anxiety, stress and depression related issues, low self esteem and confidence. This can be for many different reasons, as a result of traumatic events or experiences past or present, from unmet needs and confusion from childhood, from a build up of negative experiences which have left you feeling overwhelmed or struggling with the stresses and strains of modern day life. I draw from a range of techniques to help you work through these difficulties and to find appropriate coping strategies to make positive changes to your life.
I welcome telephone enquiries, e mails and text messages, I understand how difficult it can be to find a Counsellor that is right for you and often a phone call or e mail can help you with that process.
I offer a free 30 minute initial introductory session, so that you can meet me and decide if I am the right Counsellor for you. You then have the option of leaving at the end of the 30 minute session, or if you choose to you can extend to an hour, paying £20 only for the second 30 minutes.
My fees are then £40 for a 60 minute appointment.
I also offer a small number of concessionary spaces, for students and clients on low income, at £30 for a 60 minute appointment, please ask about my availability.
I offer long and short term therapy dependant on your needs. From experience weekly counselling sessions are very beneficial, however I understand that this is not always possible so we can work around your needs and requirements.
