About me

Are you here because you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stuck? Maybe you're struggling with thoughts or feelings you can't quite make sense of, or something has happened that you haven't been able to move past? Or perhaps you're a parent looking for support for your teenager and wondering where to begin.

Whatever has brought you here, I’m glad you are seeking support. It’s normal to be unsure about whether therapy will be ‘the answer’, and even more normal to be overwhelmed by knowing which therapist to work with; so here’s a bit about me and how I work

Training, qualifications & experience

My name is Kyrie, and I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor with a degree in Psychology and specialist training in working with trauma, anxiety, stress, low self-worth, grief, loss and neurodiversity amongst other topics. I work with both adults and young people aged 13+.

My approach is warm, down-to-earth and tailored to you, because no two people – or their stories – are the same. I won't force you into a particular way of doing therapy or expect you to have everything figured out. We'll work together, at your pace, based on your individual needs, to understand what's happening and find ways forward that feel manageable. I believe that therapy is about developing an awareness of yourself, understanding your needs, and working towards offering yourself compassion.

I know that contacting a counsellor can feel like a big step. There is no judgement here, and no pressure to commit. I offer a free 15-minute consultation, giving you the chance to ask questions, get a feel for how I work and decide whether I'm the right person for you or your teenager.

Sometimes the first step is simply starting the conversation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
