About me
Hi I'm Kris, a gamer who spends their time playing, watching and engaging with anything gaming related in my spare time. When I'm not doing that you'll find me watching or playing sport. Never mind if it's how to beat a level, trying new tactics or simply getting better at a game or sport I love a good challenge and trying to figure things out. I am open minded, persistent and willing to learn new things. These characteristics all play a role in how I am as a counsellor. I will work with you with curiosity, openness and with a genuine desire to understand you, your life and experiences. I know from gaming that I need to be adaptable and believe that there is always a way to get through what I'm faced with, I just have to figure it out, and that's exactly what I bring into the counselling we do together. We can try and understand what's happening for you together, try figuring out what you personally need and deal with the ups and downs together.
Counselling became a part of my life in my early 20s when I started seeing a counsellor for the things I was experiencing and needed someone to work through it with me. I quickly realised that counselling was what I wanted to do as my career because I saw how much of a difference it can make having someone not only want to listen to me but also try and understand what it was I was experiencing. I am so grateful for the fact I'm able to support people who are similar to me and my experiences but also unique in their own ways.
While I am already qualified as a counsellor, I chose to continue my studies and have started a Masters in Transactional Analysis where I hope to continue to learn and develop as a therapist and be able to support more people.
When we are working together in counselling the first area I try to focus on is building our relationship, whether that's through our similarities or exploring the things which make you unique. I understand that everyone is different so you are welcome to come as you are, however you are at the moment. My hope is to meet you where you are at, supporting you in your exploring, understanding and working towards your goals. Together we will find a way for me to be alongside you to not only hear and understand you but also support you through your ups and downs.
Because I want to understand you and hopefully support you in understanding yourself and your circumstances more, I find being curious about the 'whys' is a great place to explore. Why are you the way you are? Why do you have the relationships you do (or don't) have? Why do you feel certain things but not other things? With that we can then also process the thoughts, emotions and behaviours you are having. This will hopefully allow us to see where you might want to grow or change in how you think and feel about yourself and your life.
If you are struggling to build or maintain relationships, don't feel fulfilled in your work life or spend time online, watching content or gaming in a way which then impacts your wellbeing and motivation in life. If you are feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed or stuck, I welcome the opportunity to meet you and support you within that.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
