NCPS Counsellor

About me

Hi, I'm Kris - a counsellor, and a gamer.

In my spare time you'll find me playing, watching, and engaging with anything gaming related. When I'm not doing that I'm probably watching or playing sport or being a nerd in other ways. Whether it's figuring out how to beat a level, trying new tactics, or simply getting better at something I love, I've always enjoyed a good challenge. That same curiosity, persistence, and openness to learning shapes everything about how I work as a counsellor.

Gaming and life taught me to be adaptable, to believe there's always a way through what you're faced with even when it isn't obvious yet. That's exactly what I bring into the counselling room. Together we can try to understand what's happening for you, figure out what you personally need, and navigate the ups and downs side by side.

Why I became a counsellor

Counselling became part of my life in my mid twenties when I started seeing a counsellor for things I was going through and needed someone to work through it with me. I quickly realised it was what I wanted to do as a career because I experienced first hand how much of a difference it makes having someone not only willingly listen, but genuinely trying to understand my world.

That experience is also where NewGame+ began. While I was going through my own difficult period, depressed, lonely, and feeling hopeless, I noticed how little support existed for gamers or nerds who felt stuck or overwhelmed. Most therapy spaces didn't understand gaming culture, and that gap made an already hard experience feel even more isolating.

Getting support showed me I wasn't broken. The way I felt about myself made sense given what I'd been through. With the right support I was able to understand my own experiences and make changes I never thought were possible. And the most important part was I didn't have to reinvent myself or become someone else. I just got to start my own New Game+, carrying my experiences forward and living more authentically in line with who I actually am.

That's the heart of what I want to offer you.

What NewGame+ means

In gaming a New Game+ isn't about wiping your save file and starting from scratch. It's about carrying what you've learned into what comes next. That's exactly how I think about counselling. It isn't about becoming a different person. It's about taking everything you've already lived through and working out how to use it to get you where you want to be.

I am already qualified as a counsellor and have chosen to continue my studies through a Masters in Transactional Analysis, a therapeutic approach that explores how our past experiences shape how we think, feel, and relate to others. It reinforces what I've always believed, that your past has an affect on you but with understanding and choice it doesn't have to affect the future, you just need the right support to access it.

How we work together

When we work together the first thing I focus on is building our relationship, through our similarities, and through exploring what makes you uniquely you. Everyone is different so you are welcome to come exactly as you are, however you are right now. My hope is to meet you where you're at and support you in exploring, understanding, and working towards the goals that matters to you.

Because I want to understand you and support you in understanding yourself more, I find being curious about the whys is a great place to start. Why are you the way you are? Why do you have the relationships you do, or don't? Why do you feel certain things but not others? From there we can begin to explore the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours you're experiencing and look at where you might want to grow or change in how you think and feel about yourself and your life.

Who I work with

If you're struggling to build or maintain relationships, feeling unfulfilled, or finding that time spent gaming or online is starting to impact your motivation and wellbeing, I'd love the opportunity to meet you and support you through that.

If you're feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or just stuck, you don't have to have it all figured out before you reach out. That's what the first session is for.

You deserve your own New Game+ experience. I'd love to help you start it.
