About me

Kim Russell – Brookfield Therapy Space

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist offering individual therapy to adults aged 18 and over, both in person in Leeds and online across the UK.

People come to therapy for many reasons - feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low, stuck, or struggling in relationships. You may not have a clear sense of what you need; often therapy begins with simply having a space where you can slow down and be heard.

My approach is relational and collaborative. I work with care, curiosity, and respect for your lived experience, offering a calm and confidential space where we can explore thoughts, feelings, and patterns together, at a pace that feels right for you. Therapy is not about advice or quick fixes, but about developing understanding, resilience, and choice over time.

I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework and attend regular clinical supervision. Sessions are confidential and offered on a short-term or open-ended basis.

If you are considering therapy, you are welcome to get in touch to ask questions or explore whether working together feels like a good fit.

Book a free 15 minute consultation to see if I'm the right therapist for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified and BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist with a Master’s degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My training is integrative, meaning I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor therapy to each individual. This includes person-centred therapy, CBT, psychodynamic theory, Transactional Analysis, attachment theory, and solution-focused approaches.

Alongside talking therapy, I am trained in using creative counselling techniques, which may include imagery, writing, drawing, metaphor, or other creative methods to help explore thoughts and feelings when words are difficult to find. Creative work is always optional and used in a gentle, collaborative way.

I have experience working with adults around anxiety, stress, burnout, low mood, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, hold professional indemnity insurance, and am committed to ongoing professional development and supervision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
