About me
Counselling for adults in Kendal and Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria
For many who come to see me, at the heart of it, relationships are the core theme. Those we have with others and the one we have with ourselves. Painful dynamics, grief, the dormant parts of us we'd like to resurrect, and the stuff we're glad to leave behind.
Aspects of life I regularly work with include:
- bereavement, grief, loss - of fellow humans and beloved pets
- relationship dynamics, attachment - feeling hemmed in, resistant, fearful
- loneliness, self-esteem, life stage - the changing landscape of life, ageing
- abuse, trauma - acknowledging the legacy of what happened to you
- anxiety, depression - what's keeping you busy or in stillness
From me you will receive empathy, acceptance, and a place to speak about all the things you've been holding in. Free from unwelcome pressure or judgment.
My role is to help you find clarity amid the chaos, reach deeper self-knowledge and understanding, and strengthen foundations for the future. At a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I am trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and LGBTQ+ inclusive.

I have been counselling people since 2021 and running my private practice since 2023.
An integrative counsellor, my therapeutic approach is a blend of person-centred and psychodynamic, and through a trauma-informed lens.
In essence, this means that we focus on the present and what you're finding most difficult; and, where relevant, apply meaning and understanding to this by exploring the past. All at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Alongside counselling, I have a working knowledge of health and social care, having spent 15 years in a variety of roles in those sectors. My experience left me with deep insight into the wide-ranging needs of people and the challenges faced in getting those needs met.
Prior to this, I spent over five years working in an investment management team, providing support to fund managers. I was like a fish out of water, but really enjoyed the insights it gave me into a world I otherwise had no connection to.
I have provided counselling in a prison, and currently support a bereavement charity.
I feel like I've done a lot, but have finally found my home.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
