Kevin Williams (BA honours) Integrative counselling
I am a Counsellor based in North Cornwall.
I came to counselling after a life time of work with the Military and Police. I strongly believe in the clients Inate ability to heal given the right Thereaputic relationship.
I offer Honesty, Empathy, Compassion, Balance and Resilience and a passion and believe that I can provide a Safe and Trusted therapeutic relationship for you the client to explore your feeling. Your Indvidual autonomy is important to me and whilst I will offer you my observations and suggestions it is you who have control.
I endeavour to provide a safe space for clients to explore sensitive issues or to simply be heard. I endeavour to be non-Judgemental but recognise that we make Judgements to some degree. What i promise is that I will recognise you as a unique individual with a unique past, future and present. I offer you the opportunity to work in an Honest way with Honesty being for me about Respect for you as an Individual. You have choice.
I recognise and understand how difficult it can be to take that first step into the counselling room. Whilst I take nothing for granted I believe that I have a naturally warm and empathic way of being which contributes to the development of a Safe and Trusted therapeuctic relationship. Your well being and personal growth is at the centre of my work.
As a Registered member of the BACP (British association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I work ethically and undertake regular supervision and adhere to good practice. Working ethically for me is a personal attribute and my care for my clients is very personal to me.
What I work with and how I work with clients
By experience I have found that clients will sometimes be quite specific about what they want and other times they are searching for what is wrong. In the initial stages of counslling i take great care to develop trust as only then can you feel truly safe to speak freely and openly.
I strongly believe in the Here and Now whilst recognising that the past and worries about the future can impact on how we live in the present. I have experience of working with many issues eg Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Addiction, PTSD/Trauma. I will not define you by a diagnosis or a lable as I see every client as the professional in knowing themselves. I offer you a balanced perspective and supportive relationship where you sit at the centre of our work together.
I believe my naturally warm and welcoming way of being helps my clients to relax, I have considerable resilience which allows me to be with clients when they share something difficult.
What I offer you the client
A Safe and confidential place where you can be:-
Heard and be seen for who you are.
More than anything I offer my passion and strong believe that I can help you to help yourself.
