About me
You may be here due to feelings of anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, anger, low self-esteem, relationship issues, sexuality, just feeling stuck in life or dealing with a present life challenge. You may also be finding it difficult to open-up and talk to others about this. Or you may be locked in a jumble of thoughts trying to work out what is wrong. However, working face-to-face together we can explore your thoughts and feelings in a confidential and non-judgemental way to find what lies at their source. As I believe we often react to our past and not the present, finding threads that link the present with the past is enlightening and liberating and leads to increased self-awareness and sustained personal growth. Many hours of experience has shown me that this form of well founded counselling, known as Psychotherapeutic Counselling, can achieve lasting change. This is not a quick fix-solution, but with the help of an experienced counsellor, we can get to the source of the problem, and therefore changes in your life will be sustainable.
I am a fully qualified, BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor working face-to-face with adults. I work from two locations, a comfortable home office in the PO16 area and also an office in Chichester City Centre. In both locations, all counselling takes place in a totally confidential place where you will free to discuss and process whatever is going on in your life. These locations offer both easy public transport access or easy car-parking for anyone in the Fareham, Portsmouth, Gosport, Chichester or wider Hampshire and West Sussex regions. If counselling is new to you it may feel daunting but be assured you will not be asked to share anything you do not wish to. A free non-commital personal call may help you in the first instance to explore if counselling is right for you.
I have a particular interest in spirituality and while appreciating the benefits of good spiritual practices, I am also very much aware of how a distorted view of religion can cause great damage and hurt, especially around issues of shame. I would therefore especially like to reach out to anyone who is experiencing difficulties with religion or experiencing spiritual abuse.
Having lived many years in Taiwan I am also able also to offer counselling in Mandarin Chinese (普通話- 國語)
Training, qualifications & experience
After 3 years of formal study I obtained a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from a BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) approved training organisation.
I am a fully registered member of the BACP (registration number: 410848) and work ethically in line with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. As an ethical requirement I also have regular supervision to ensure the quality of my client work. I also undertake continual professional development - CPD.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I am particularly interested in spirituality, and while appreciating the benefits of good spiritual practices, also am aware of the damage that a distorted view of religion can create. I am especially interested to reach out to anyone who has problems with religion or spiritual abuse.
