Kerry Sheffield Reg MBACP
I am a qualified counsellor who believes in providing a warm, non-judgemental and secure environment in which a trusting relationship between client and counsellor can be built. Together we will identify your needs and work towards finding positive solutions.
It is important to find the right counsellor; I therefore offer a free initial consultation to enable you to assess whether you feel we could work together and whether my approach is suitable for you.
I attend regular supervision sessions in order that I adhere to good practice and I work to the Ethical code of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.)
If you would like any further information or wish to arrange an initial session please feel free to contact me via phone or email.
Training, qualifications & experience
I run my own private counselling practice and have had experience of working in various counselling environments including an agency providing therapy for carers, as a college counsellor as well as for a charity supporting those affected by sight loss. My client work has covered a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss, anger, relationship difficulties and low self esteem.
I have a foundation degree in Humanistic counselling based on Transactional Analysis (Distinction) and I attend regular training workshops and courses as part of my continued professional development. I am currently completing my Masters in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy
I have experience of teaching as a counselling tutor in a college in Winchester. I was the lead tutor for the level 2 and 3 Counselling Skills courses; in this role I coordinated the courses, provided student support and taught counselling skills to those that wanted to enhance their current profession and those that wanted to train to become qualified counsellors. Latterly I taught on the foundation degree in Transactional Analysis as a primary tutor.
