About me
I am a qualified psychotherapist who believes in providing a warm, non-judgemental and secure environment in which a trusting relationship between client and counsellor can be built. Together, we will identify your needs and work towards finding positive solutions.
It is important to find the right therapist; I therefore offer a free, 30 minute, initial consultation to enable you to assess whether you feel we could work together and whether my approach is suitable for you.
I attend regular supervision sessions in order that I adhere to good practice and I work to the Ethical code of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.)
If you would like any further information or wish to arrange an initial session please feel free to contact me via phone or email.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have run my own private psychotherapy practice for the past ten years and previous to this had experience working in various counselling environments including an agency providing therapy for carers, as a college counsellor as well as for a charity supporting those affected by sight loss. My client work has covered a variety of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties and low self esteem. I have worked with a wide variety of clients over the years including some with a diagnosis of ADHD and autism as well as transgender clients
I have a foundation degree in Humanistic counselling based on Transactional Analysis and a Masters in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I attend regular training workshops and courses as part of my continued professional development.
I have four years experience of teaching as a counselling tutor in a college in Winchester as lead tutor for the level 2 and 3 Counselling Skills courses and also taught on the foundation degree in Transactional Analysis as a primary tutor. Latterly I taught at Mindspace in Basingstoke on their level 4 diploma in counselling

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
