About me

My Experience-

I have extensive experience in working with individuals that are experiencing relationship difficulties such as struggling to come to terms with the end of a relationship, affairs and betrayals, separation and divorce, relationship recovery, fear of change, difficult family dynamics and domestic abuse in all forms including, emotional, physical and sexual. For over a decade I have worked with clients that have experienced a variety of difficulties for which they have sought support such as depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder. I am the developer and facilitator of a course designed to assist with the discovery of personal identity and promotion of confidence to build the self belief required to make positive life choices.

How Counselling can help-

Whatever problems or issues that have led you here can be worked through. You may be feeling anxious, stressed, depressed or have no clue why you are feeling how you currently are. You may have reached a point of crisis in your life - discussing what is going on for you and focusing on ways to move forward will help. Sometimes this can involve acceptance of past events, recognising patterns of behavior and challenging yourself to make positive changes. We will work together to identify what is truly going on for you and find a way forward for you to be able to live the life that you deserve.

What to expect in your first session-

Our first session together will provide you with the opportunity to decide if you feel that I can help you. We can discuss what you hope to achieve from counselling and any concerns that you may have in a safe, non judgmental, comfortable space.

My Approach-

I am a fully qualified Counsellor/psychotherapist. As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I adhere to their Ethical Framework for good practice and provide you with a safe, non judgmental space to explore and resolve what may have led you to seek therapy.

My approach to therapy is integrative, this means that I am able to respect your unique needs by drawing upon a range of psycho-therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, person centered and humanistic therapies. I offer short term, time limited and long term therapy dependent on your requirements. As I work in a relational way I do not offer skype or telephone service.

If you feel I may be able to help you, please feel free to contact me and arrange an initial appointment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
