About me
If you are looking for a sign, this is it!
Welcome to Balance Counselling & Psychotherapy. My name is Kelly. I am a qualified and experienced therapist offering short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy to adults (over 18 years).
My approach is trauma-informed and has given me a deep understanding of trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief. Additionally, I am experienced in working with neurodivergent individuals before and after diagnosis. Whilst I do not provide formal diagnoses, I believe that exploring the impact of neurodivergent experience in a therapeutic setting can be powerful.
Engaging in therapy is a powerful catalyst for personal growth and understanding. You unlock the potential for healing, perspective, flexibility, and choice when you genuinely feel seen, heard, and valued. This collaborative journey will equip you with effective coping strategies while highlighting your strengths and fostering greater self-awareness and resilience. I believe that this empowering process enables you to navigate your life with renewed confidence, self-compassion, and a more profound sense of purpose.
Therapy is a profound opportunity to delve deeply into your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, illuminating the path from your past to your present and future. This transformative process uncovers new insights and nurtures your innate wisdom, empowering you to connect with and confront the uncomfortable and reshape unhelpful behaviour patterns and unhealthy relationships.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), fully insured, and hold an enhanced DBS certificate. Alongside my private practice, I have worked with two local charities specialising in working with individuals affected by domestic or sexual abuse and adults experiencing difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction. I currently work as a Lecturer in Counselling. This role allows me to make a meaningful contribution to the community while enhancing my teaching and therapeutic skills.
Complimentary 30-minute face-to-face initial consultation
Research consistently shows that the success of therapy is closely tied to the ”fit” of the client-therapist relationship. To honour this, and to give you a chance to get a sense of me and my counselling space, I provide a complimentary 30-minute initial consultation.
If you are ready to explore your thoughts and feelings in a supportive environment, get in touch to schedule your initial consultation. Taking that first step can lead to transformative change.
Feel free to contact me by text, WhatsApp, or email; I strive to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
