About me
I am an experienced psychotherapist & art psychotherapist offering individual, group therapy & supervision. I have worked for the NHS & education for over 23 years in the forensic sector, adult mental health, learning disabilities, older adults and with children. I also work privately.
I work with individuals and couples. I also work with various client groups from children to adults and older adults.
I work psycho-dynamically as well as analytically. I believe I offer a warm and containing environment, enabling clients to feel safe and nurtured and able to freely express themselves creatively. This empowers people to get in touch with their feelings, emotions and experiences while using the sessions in a less intrusive manner by having the option of being creative with art.
I am client-led which means that I hope to offer my clients to use the session at their own pace with any creative medium they feel comfortable with e.g. paints, pencils, clay, collage, dolls & figures etc. Poetry or writing is also a creative and communicative way of expressing how you feel.
I must stress you do not have to be artistic to engage with this treatment. It is a less intrusive way of working, enabling the clients to reflect on their emotions and experiences. The therapist is there to guide, discuss and contain at the clients own pace.
It can be difficult to open up and trust a stranger with your most intimate, darkest thoughts and experiences. In Art Therapy, words are not always necessary. If something isn't spoken or heard it doesn't mean that nothing is being said. Art Therapy supports our process when words are not enough or too difficult.
However, talking therapy is also an option.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
