About me

Hi, I’m Katie, and I know just how daunting it can be to look for a therapist.

Perhaps you’re feeling anxious, depressed, or increasingly overwhelmed? Or maybe you’re looking for some extra support as you navigate the challenges of parenting, relationships, or your career.

If so, I am a warm and compassionate therapist with a special interest in women’s mental health and wellbeing.

By offering a calm and judgement-free space, I can support you as you explore and make sense of what’s going on in your life.

My areas of work

I work with adults (18+) and can offer support for:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • ADHD
  • Relationships
  • Pregnancy/parenting challenges
  • Work and redundancy
  • Grief and loss
  • Identity issues

I understand how many of the challenges and life transitions that we go through can impact our sense of identity and self-esteem.

I have a particular interest in neurodivergence, and have completed a specific training course so that I can better support clients who have - or think they may have - adult ADHD.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I have worked at depth with people who have experienced significant trauma, either during childhood or later in life.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications include:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, with Distinction, (University of Westminster)
  • Foundation Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling, (Regent's University)
  • Certificate in Adult ADHD+, (The Grove)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

The way I work

I am an integrative therapist, which means that I use a variety of counselling theories and techniques. Sometimes this involves focusing on the present, while at other times it may be useful to examine patterns from the past to see how they might still be impacting you today.

Although it is impossible to judge whether a therapist is a good match from just a photo and a few words, I hope this gives you a flavour of who I am. Research consistently shows that therapy works best when a client and therapist have a good relationship - so finding the right person to talk to is paramount!
