About me
After working for many years within the NHS I took a career break, and am now returning to work on a private basis. I work with adults with a large range of difficulties, but mainly mood disorders such as anxiety or depression, self-esteem and relationship issues, or who are dealing with the effects of trauma (both past and present). I work both online and from my little therapy room within my home, set in a quiet and peaceful village. My working hours are limited but flexible.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my clinical psychology training way back in 2002, and then worked within a few psychology services in the NHS. Over the years I progressed my career, even heading up a countywide service at the end. I was fortunate during those years to be able to continue my training with some of the top experts in the profession, including additional training in CBT, EMDR, CFT and CAT (all explained on my website). I also supervised CBT trainees and therapists, and trainee clinical psychologists and therapists. I lectured once a year at Lincoln University and wrote service development proposals. What does this all mean? It means that you can have confidence in my skills and abilities, and know that I will work diligently to support you during your therapy journey.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Further information
I very much consider therapy to be a collaborative exercise: you are the expert on you, and I am the expert on what therapies work best with which difficulties. Our job is to gain a thorough understanding of your issues, including their origins, their development, as well as you as a person and how you best work. From this we can devise a lasting solution, creating real change. Sadly, I can't make this happen for you, but I will support you every step of the way, celebrating your successes along the journey and supporting you when things don't go quite to plan - as often is the case in life. Why not check out my website or give me a call?
