About me

I am a warm, thoughtful and experienced counsellor offering both short- and long-term therapy in a calm, confidential setting. I have a conversational practical approach and aim to make you feel safe, understood and genuinely heard as this is often the starting point for meaningful change.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be facing a specific difficulty, navigating a life transition, or simply feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself. Sometimes the reasons are clear; at other times there is just a sense that something isn’t quite right. Whatever brings you, you are welcome exactly as you are.

No concern is too small or insignificant. If something is affecting your wellbeing or occupying your thoughts, it is worth giving it attention. Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, and I aim to make that first contact feel straightforward, warm and reassuring.

.

I work with a wide range of issues, including:

Individuals and couples
Bereavement and loss
Relationship difficulties
Family and parenting challenges
Pregnancy, childbirth and post birth experiences
Premature birth, baby loss and miscarriage
Work related stress and career crossroads
Anxiety, uncertainty and loss of direction
ADHD related challenges

I have particular experience supporting people through bereavement and complex loss, relationship difficulties, workplace issues, and times of significant life transition. Alongside counselling, I also offer coaching and have experience working within business settings, which can be especially helpful for work related concerns.

I have a strong interest in supporting individuals and couples navigating the emotional impact of pregnancy, birth and parenting, particularly when things have not gone to plan, including traumatic birth, premature birth, baby loss, miscarriage, or the death of a child.

I offer face to face, online and hybrid sessions. I have completed substantial specialist training to work safely and effectively online.

I see private clients through https://cambridgecounsellingpractice.co.uk, and also work as a supervisor for counsellors and other professionals in supportive roles.

I work with individuals and couples, and can sometimes offer one off sessions. I see adults and young people aged 18 and over.

Training, qualifications & experience

My core training is in Individual Psychology and Adlerian counselling. This is a practical, integrative and creative approach that is collaborative, supportive and empathetic. It focuses on understanding your unique experiences, relationships and goals, and helping you move towards meaningful change.

I tailor my work to each client, drawing on a range of techniques to suit your individual needs. Over the years I have undertaken extensive additional training and incorporate elements of CBT within an integrative framework. I have also completed specialist training in bereavement and baby loss, alongside training in general coaching. This enables me to offer sensitive, informed support around grief and complex loss, while also helping clients think clearly about goals, direction and practical next steps.

I work with both individuals and couples.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
