About me

I am a qualified and professional counsellor, with validated and accredited experience of working with clients in a trauma informed way, which includes anxiety and depression; family estrangement (which I have a lived experience of) and family patterns; relationships; dissociation; abuse and adverse childhood experiences; traumatic past events; work stresses; struggles with identity and life purpose; bereavement and chronic grief, and much more.

When you find yourself going through a hard time, you may feel confused and disorientated. You might spend your time trying to figure out feelings of unhappiness, destructive behaviours, and repeated unhelpful patterns in relationships.

Maybe you have unexplained symptoms like panic attacks, or difficulty sleeping at night, or a lack of motivation and satisfaction at work. You can feel stuck and things you took pleasure in now seem pointless and hard work.

I have a wealth of experience and will work through these feelings with you to figure out what's behind them.

I am available now for face to face appointments, to meet on an agreed and regular basis to fit your working/caring pattern, finances, and therapeutic needs.

My clients have said that they found relief in just having the opportunity to speak impartially, empathically and without a response that suggests a solution. With increased awareness I may challenge your thinking, and ask you to look again at the situation, to develop deeper insight and a different perspective.

I am committed to your goal of considering new things. Together, let’s start the journey of being curious about your experiences and what it would be like to try a new way of being.

At the end of their therapy with me, clients have said they have found the experience beneficial and helpful in bringing about the changes in their lives. I have witnessed improvements in mood within a few sessions, and life changing decisions at the end of therapy.

Coming to counselling has become a lifestyle choice for some of my clients, returning on a when they need it basis.

Counselling aims to get you to understand and overcome issues that bring you distress and discomfort. I offer you a safe space and a professional approach with empathic presence to talk about what you are going through. You have the opportunity to explore and make sense of it all in your own way and without judgement. We will work together so you get to what you want as an outcome.

If you have any questions or would like to book a session, please send me an email.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I have a comfortable and inspiring space, free from distractions, intrusion and interruption. My clients have said it is relaxing and safe that provided the opportunity to reflect and consider experiences; an environment to facilitate hope, possibility and resilience for growth.  Professional and safe, I guarantee confidentiality.

Upon initial inquiry I assure you of my warmest welcome and a rapid response. After agreeing an appointment I will provide you with more details of how counselling with me works and the essential boundaries that create an ethical relationship.

I will collect very brief background information from you about what brings you to counselling and what you expect as goals and outcomes of your sessions.

At the beginning of the first session we will explore any outstanding questions and concerns you may still have, after which and very gently, the work begins.

I assure you of my very best attention at all times.  I warmly welcome your enquiry.
