About me

I believe we all deserve to be be heard and have opportunity to live our life in a way which feels fulfilling, and right for us.

I see my role is to provide you, whether you come as an individual ( adult/child/young person) or a couple, with a safe space to explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences and find the right way forward for you.

I understand that sometimes life can feel overwhelming, whether it is due to a specific challenge, a deep loss, anxiety, struggling with self confidence, exploring your identity,  or  finding your way with ADHD or neurodiverse needs. It may be you are experiencing relationship strain, a general sense that something is just not quite right or feeling stuck not knowing how to move forward.

Who I am...

I have worked with adults/families, vulnerable children and young people often in crisis situations for over 20 years. I have extensive experience of supporting people through challenging situations, and change. I differ from many other counsellors as I also bring experience of professional coaching enabling me to support you with your career as well, if that feels relevant for you.

I hold qualifications in Individual Counselling, Couples Counselling and Children and Young People, Early Years, Management and Leadership, Insights. I have undertaken extensive training in Solution Focus Approach, Attachment, Transactional Analysis, Coaching, Relationship Dynamics, Parental Conflict, Domestic abuse and Parenting.

How I can help and what you can expect from sessions with me...

Holding big feelings and thoughts alone can be a heavy burden. I provide a confidential space aiming for you to feel safe to share that weight for a while.

Together, we can explore what is happening, or has happened, at your own pace, in your own words. Gently beginning to make sense of your experiences and your situation.

The space is yours and you can be confident that I will listen and hear what you are saying and what your perspective is.

Couples sessions

If you are attending as a couple I will take the time to understand you both and your relationship, working to explore the area your relationship is struggling, with the aim to support you both to find a way forward.

With sessions we may, if it is relevant to your relationship explore areas such as trust, intimacy, managing conflict and communication. Sessions will focus on what feels most important to you both.

For some couples it maybe you have made the decision to separate and  want to access sessions to work out how to move forward in a way which is as amicable as possible. I will aim to sensitively support you both to explore what needs to happen to enable this.

Children/Young People under 18yrs

If you are seeking counselling for your child, you can be assured I will approach sessions with the aim of supporting your child/teen to feel comfortable. Through my carer I have developed a solid understanding of children and young people and how to effectively engage with children and young people in a way which is relaxed and even sometimes fun. I like to use creative methods to support children/young people in exploring their feelings and experiences.

I provide children and young people sessions in Worcester and Malvern.

Former client feedback

"Kate approached our sessions with complete understanding, warmth and made me feel incredibly safe, which is something I have not felt for a long time. We worked through things ,some of which I had not even recognised where triggers for my anxiety. As a result of my sessions with Kate , I have more confidence in my self and my decisions..."

What ever your story is, you can be assured I will meet you with respect and care.

How will the sessions take place, and how often...

We can do sessions via telephone or online video, face to face or walk and talk (adult sessions only).

How many sessions you have is up to you, and how you feel. There is no minimum and no maximum number of sessions, all that is important is that you feel the sessions are helping you.

Sessions can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

What are the first steps ...

I recognise reaching out for support can be daunting and it takes a brave person to do it. To help with this, I offer a free (up to) 30min introduction call.

This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have, share with me if you feel comfortable to, what has brought you to contact me and consider if  as a I counsellor feel the right fit for you and your needs.

I will ask you a few questions about your situation and what you are hoping to gain from counselling, although it is okay if you not sure on that yet, it may be at this stage you just know you want something to change.

If you would like to contact me to arrange a call, you can do this via the counselling directory or by contacting me directly via the following :-

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My counselling approach enables me to offer sessions in a number of ways.

Telephone or Online - sessions from the comfort of your own home or a location which feels practical and safe for you to talk.

In person -Prefer to talk in person or want to be able to step into calm, quiet space. I have a therapy room based at my home in Malvern as well as rooms I am able to book in Worcester to provide this.

Walk and Talk - Often we can find it easier to share when we are walking and the focus feels less intensely on ourself. I am able to provide this in Worcester and Malvern.

Sessions are 50mins.

Walk and Talk sessions can be a mix of walking and face to face within a therapy room .

I offer long term counselling as well as shorter and single session therapy.

I believe it is your therapy, your choice in what method feels right for you.
