About me
Hi, I’m Katharine and I specialise in counselling for Autism and ADHD.
Whether you have suspicions that you might have one of these conditions, are considering getting a diagnosis for it or are currently in the process of getting one, I can help you. You may even be living with Autism or ADHD but struggling a bit right now and that’s fine too.
Regardless of where you are, you shouldn’t sit there thinking ‘what do I do next?’ Instead, read the ADHD or Autism sections below…
ADHD
Clients say different things about having an ADHD diagnosis, everything from “this is life-changing” to “my life is over”!
There are common traits among people with ADHD characteristics like:
Losing three days on Youtube is easily done (especially if you have a deadline for something coming up!).
Your motivation yo-yo’s up and down, because you struggle with planning and focusing on tasks.
Morning and bedtime routines are tricky to manage. You may feel a bit embarrassed that something so simple proves to be difficult. This really isn’t your fault.
You can replace feeling confused, demotivated or a failure because you struggle with day-to-day tasks. Together, I can show you how your own mind works instead, quirks and all. When you see what’s really going on, you’ll breathe a massive sigh of relief instead.
My approach focuses on:
How your brain works differently
Tools to manage motivation and planning; how to think about ‘now, next and then’ so you can manage and complete tasks.
Motivation to get things done
It’s like a ladder !
You won’t climb to the top immediately, but we’ll break things down together and simplify day-to-day activities so that you can make progress, rung by rung. Breaking it down and simplify things into small steps forward.
It’s a ladder of progress to get you to where you want to be, and with complete support along the way with developing your core foundation, Clients of mine have accomplished many things through support with their ADHD.
I’ll help you develop a core foundation, one that you can build on. Once you do, you can also do things like:
Going back to work
Run your own businesses
Master your ‘executive function’; make paying your bills on time or doing your own shopping more effortless
Morning and bedtime routines - no longer disrupting your day
You can start climbing that ladder with confidence, once it’s on firm ground and with a solid foundation.
Autism,
Do you feel that you don't fit in to society or it feels very alien how others cope in society, do you feel you can't be yourself around others and causes extra anxiety and isolation.
maybe I can support you to understand society that works for you.
I initially do an initial consultation of 20 minutes to see if I am the right person, in which Is free, and if I am then we can organise a full session if still wanted of 50 minutes
