About me
Hello! I'm Katie. How lovely that you have clicked on my profile! I know this directory can be overwhelming because there are so many counsellors practising all sorts of different therapies.
I received my training first in the Person Centred approach, and then in a Humanistic Integrative one. Please don't worry about these terminologies! What it means to me is that I consider every client to be a distinct individual, and I want to meet them where they are at. I do not have a rigid way of working, because it is more important to get to know my client so that we can start to build a strong therapeutic relationship together. And I mean it when I say 'together': coming to counselling is hard work. I am not here to give you the answers because how can I? My way of doing things is not yours. What I can do is provide a safe, supportive space, free from judgement, where you can take the time to find out where you want to go, what you want to do, and how you want to be.
My practice is inclusive, meaning that I am open to working with anyone regardless of their background or how they identify.
If you would like to get in touch, send me a message here, on my website or via hello@katielilley.co.uk, and I will get back to you to arrange a free 15-minute phone call.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
