About me
Working with adults as a BACP registered Counsellor, I practice as a person-centred integrative therapist. This means that I tailor the counselling to you as an individual, meeting you exactly where you’re at in the moment and working at your pace you need.
I understand that the search for the right therapist can be overwhelming and it can be difficult to figure out who you feel you can really connect with. I am able to offer a kind confidential space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard, valued, accepted and supported. The pace, depth and goals are yours and it's important to me that you know I value you as the expert in you.
My personal aims are to help you grow, providing support to help day to day life feel more fulfilling and easy to manage.
I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change when given the right conditions and appropriate support to do so.
I will work alongside you, supporting you to explore your thoughts and feelings, deepen your self-understanding and help you move towards a greater sense of mental wellbeing in a way that feels right for you

I have experience working with trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, identity, work and relationship difficulties and have a specialism in helping adults process bereavement, life transitions and loss.
I have 23 years experience working in the emergency services public sector. From working in this field, I have an understanding of some of the pressures, demands and challenges facing this sector and the consequent effect on mental health. I am passionate about supporting the mental wellbeing of those working within this sector.
I undertake continuous personal development throughout my Counselling journey, recent learning and training has included: managing life transitions, understanding the impact of menopause, working with self harm, addictive behaviour and eating disorders.
I'm currently undergoing research and training around working with men’s mental health and recognise some of the barriers that are still in place that could be impacting some men accessing mental health support.
I continue to work as a volunteer Bereavement Counsellor for a local charity (JustB, Specialist Bereavement Support, Harrogate - https;//justb.org.uk).
My main experience to date has been working with bereavement, loss and life transitions. I understand how challenging and isolating these experiences can feel. From both a professional and personal perspective, I value the benefit of talking therapy to help process and understand grief, loss and change.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am a registered member of the BACP which means I work within their ethical framework. I believe confidentiality is the key to a trusting professional working relationship. I have clear professional boundaries which I feel is vital in order to keep my clients safe. For me counselling is led by the client and I will work with the issues you bring and together we will explore the solutions.
Some clients choose to come for ongoing therapy without a deadline, some for a fixed time, whilst others just need a place to come sporadically for a few sessions as an outlet to talk things through so as to feel steadier in life.
If you simply don't know what you need and why, this is totally ok. The first session can often just act as a space to pause, reflect and see what feels right for you and what might feel right for you going forward. There is no pressure or obligation to do things a certain way.
