About me
It can take a lot to reach out for support, especially when life feels tangled, heavy, or confusing. Many of the people I work with arrive feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. Some describe a deep clash between what they feel and what they think they “should” be doing. Others come carrying grief or heartbreak that has seeped into every part of their life. Many have lived through difficult childhoods, and even as adults, those early experiences continue to shape their sense of worth, safety, or belonging.
You may recognise yourself in some of this — perhaps feeling like you’re “too much,” or that you should be coping better than you are. You might have spent a long time trying to manage things on your own, pushing down feelings, or holding yourself to impossibly high standards. And underneath it all, there may be a quiet hope that things could feel different, even if you’re not sure where to begin.
How I work
When you come to therapy with me, you’re not expected to explain everything perfectly or know what you need straight away. We slow things down. I offer a warm, grounded, unhurried space where your experiences can be met with curiosity instead of judgment. I don’t see people’s patterns as failures — I see them as intelligent, protective responses to what they’ve been through. Together, we can gently explore how these patterns developed, how they helped you survive, and how they may now be getting in the way of the life you want.
As trust grows, something often shifts. Clients begin to soften toward themselves, seeing their reactions not as flaws but as understandable. This growing compassion makes space for clearer choices and a more settled inner world. Therapy then becomes a place where you can practise relating to yourself differently — with more steadiness, more honesty, and more care.
What clients often notice
Many people I work with describe feeling safer and more seen. They notice moments of relief, a clearer head, and a stronger connection to what they truly feel and need. Over time, there can be a deeper sense of belonging — both with others and within themselves. These shifts don’t happen overnight, but they are real and meaningful.
Why people choose to work with me
My approach is shaped by deep lived experience. I came to therapy later in life, bringing decades of work in frontline social care and the NHS. This background has taught me a great deal about resilience, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to ask for help. I hold a grounded belief in the basic goodness of people, and I am passionate about supporting clients to value and believe in themselves again.
Practicalities
I work from The Green Room Stowmarket, a dedicated wellbeing centre with ground-floor, level access. It is located next to Union Street Short Stay Car Park (pay and display) and around a 10-minute walk from Stowmarket Station.
I offer both in-person and online counselling.
You’re welcome to reach out by email, or through my website, if you’d like to arrange an initial conversation or ask any questions.
Therapy doesn’t have to be rushed. You can arrive just as you are, and we can take it from there — gently, at your pace.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
