About me

I'm Kate, an integrative counsellor based in Sale, South Manchester, offering a calm, professional and genuinely supportive space for people navigating some of life's most challenging moments.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or simply not quite yourself, counselling can offer a space to explore what's going on and find a way forward.

I have a particular personal and professional interest in supporting people through:

  • Grief and bereavement - including loss that others don't always recognise or understand
  • Cancer and health diagnosis - the emotional impact of difficult news, and everything that follows
  • Burnout - the exhaustion that goes deeper than tiredness
  • Menopause - the physical, emotional and identity shifts that can occur
  • Life transitions - divorce, career change, loss of role, or any moment that leaves you wondering who you are now

I offer face to face sessions in therapy rooms in Sale close to bus & tram stops with parking also available. Online sessions are delivered via Google Meet for those who need flexibility. I also offer a free 15-minute consultation - no pressure, just a gentle first conversation to see if we might be a good fit. For more information about me, please visit my website

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and as such I am bound by their ethical framework and committed to ongoing professional development.

My professional background includes working within the NHS and with Macmillan Cancer Support as a bereavement and cancer counsellor - experience that gave me a profound understanding of how illness, loss and life change affect people, and how much it means to have someone genuinely present in those moments.

Before retraining as a counsellor, I spent over twenty years working in advertising and marketing. That career gave me a firsthand understanding of the pressures professional life creates - the pace, the blurred boundaries, and the way burnout can take hold quietly and gradually. It is an understanding I bring directly to my work with clients navigating similar experiences.

Qualifications include: Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling · Level 3 Counselling Skills · Level 2 Counselling Concepts · BA (Hons) International Management

Additional training: Dementia Aware · Oliver McGowan Training (Learning Disability & Autism) · Emergency First Aid at Work · Safeguarding Co-ordinator and Designated Leads

Professional registrations: MBACP Registered Member · Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) · Enhanced DBS certificate · Full Professional & Public Liability insurance

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
