Kate Anderson (PG Dip- Couns)
How I work;
My training is in Integrative Counselling which means that I am skilled in using a range of techniques such as Person-Centred concepts, Existential and humanistic ideas and techniques from Cognitive Behaviourial Therapy (CBT). The counselling that I offer involves gaining a clear understanding of what has brought you to this point and how you are currently coping. We then look at how you would like things to be and work on overcoming obstacles so that you can acheive your goals. I work collaboratively with you, with the belief that once you have some clarity, you will know the best course of action to take to overcome unhelpful patterns and reach your potential.
My style and specialisations;
I am a warm down-to-earth person who is skilled in building a collaborative relationship with a diverse range of people. I am a highly insightful listener who will assist you to understand yourself and find new perspectives. I specialise in working with low self esteem which can lead to relationship problems, anxiety and depression, work-related problems and can affect people who are facing major life changes and transitions. I have helped many clients facing these challenges to move forward with confidence and self-compassion.
As a member of the British Association of Counsellor and Psychotherapists, I am bound by their code of ethics. I am required to ensure confidentiality and data protection for clients. I have monthly supervision with a qualified supervisor to ensure that my work meets BACP standards.
At present, I am only offering telephone or Zoom appointments.
I offer an affordable service with concessions for those on a lower income- please enquire via email or telephone for details.
I also offer a free, informal, telephone consulation for up to half and hour. This is a good way for you to find out more about what I can offer and determine if I am the right fit for your needs. You can book one by contacting me by phone or email.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority.
