About me

Hello, I'm Karleene - a qualified and registered therapist with over 10 years experience supporting children, young people and adults through a wide range of emotional challenges.

I offer calm, confidential and compassionate space where you or your child can feel truly heard, respected and supported. My therapeutic approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that with the right support, everyone has the capacity to move through challenges and mend emotional wounds.

How I work:

My practice is rooted in empathy, safety and connection. Whether working with adults or children, I adapt my approach to meet each client where they are, recognising their unique needs, experiences, and pace. Therapy with me is not about quick fixes or judgment; it's about creating space to explore, understand, and navigate life's challenges with gentle, professional support.

Counselling Children & Young People:

Children and young people often express their emotions in different ways than adults. Counselling offers them a safe, non-judgemental environment to talk, play, create, and express themselves freely. I tailor each session to their stage of development using a mix of talking therapy, creative expression, and other age-appropriate methods to support their emotional wellbeing.

Therapy can help children & young people to:

  • Understand and manage difficult emotions
  • Build self-esteem and resilience
  • Cope with anxiety, stress, or changes in their lives
  • Develop healthier ways to communicate and form relationships

Each Child's journey in therapy is unique. Sessions are client-led, allowing the child or young person to set the pace and focus, ensuring they feel safe, empowered and respected throughout.

If you're looking for a therapist who offers warmth, sensitivity, and experienced support - whether for yourself or a child in your care, I invite you to get in touch. Together, we can explore how therapy might help.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
