About me

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor based in Huddersfield. I offer confidential, face to face, telephone and online counselling.

I work with clients of all backgrounds, with a range of issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem and relationship issues. I also have extensive training and experience working with childhood sexual abuse, sexual violence and domestic violence.

Sometimes life can bring major changes or distressing events. When dealing with these it is natural to feel, confused, upset and alone at times. Even when you have friends or family to talk to, it can help to have a trained professional who can offer you the dedicated time and space to listen and work through your feelings, without judgement.

To be heard and understood without judgement can be an empowering experience.

Starting counselling is a big step, it is important that you find a counsellor who is right for you. I seek to empower clients, to enable them to move forward, feeling more confident in their abilities, self-aware and in control of their lives. Using a warm, friendly, person-centred approach, integrated with Creative and Cognitive Behavioural interventions. This enables me to offer a service to meet individual needs.

I believe that when we are nurtured and encouraged, we all have the capacity to overcome the challenges in our lives. I aim to offer a calm, safe and supportive space while I accompany you on your healing journey.

It may be that you are going through a difficult time at the moment, due to something that is occurring in the present, or something that happened a long time ago. Together we can build a trusting counselling relationship and work through your issues, at your own pace, exploring your thoughts and feelings. I can support you in learning the tools you need, to move forward and make positive changes, aspiring to come to a resolution and create a better quality of life.

For more information about me, how I work and how I can support you. Please visit my website.

Do I sound like the counsellor for you? If so, I'd be glad to hear from you. I am contactable via email, telephone and text message. If calling, please leave a voicemail and I will call you back as soon as I can.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
