About me
Welcome, my name is Karen and I'm a BACP registered integrative counsellor. Thank you for visiting my page and please take time to read my profile.
Life can be challenging at times and sometimes talking through how you feel can make a huge difference in the way you manage situations and enable a positive impact on your wellbeing. If you are struggling then reach out and I can try and help.
I work with adults and children offering a place for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in your own time without judgement.
I offer integrative counselling which means I use a variety of approaches mainly person centred, psychodynamic and creative ways to suit your individual need. I work over Zoom, telephone or in person in Faversham, Kent. I also have access to an art room offering clients space to explore themselves more creatively. I offer small group bereavement therapy sessions for children and young people.
I work with a range of different difficulties including bereavement, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, everyday worries with family and work, stress and health worries.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over twenty years' experience working with children and currently work for a bereavement charity. I worked in education for many years and volunteer as a Bereavement Support Worker for a charity that supports children aged 6-17.
My training and qualifications include -
- CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- CPCAB Level 3 Counselling Studies
- CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
I have volunteered for Place2Be in schools and Cruse Bereavement Support during my counselling placements and continue to volunteer with Cruse supporting a diverse group of clients.
I hold an up to date enhanced DBS and safeguarding training certificate. I am a member of the BACP.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
