About me
Hi, I am Karen, an accredited CBT therapist and member with the BABCP. This is the lead organisation for cognitive and behavioural therapies in the UK and Ireland.
As an accredited member, I am required to demonstrate that I meet the high standards of training and experience in the area of CBT, thus ensuring that I am providing the most up to date evidence based treatment.
As a CBT therapist, I offer a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space which will allow us to collaboratively explore your current difficulties. This will enable us to develop an understanding of how these difficulties may have developed, how they are maintained and to learn strategies to help you manage your distress.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 19 years of experience in delivering psychological therapies, working with severe and enduring mental illness. I am currently employed within a NHS trauma-informed clinical psychology service and I am now offering online individual therapy.
I have obtained my PGdip in Cognitive Behavioural and have been offering CBT interventions since 2009. Whilst my main area of therapy is CBT, I also utilise techniques from Compassion Focussed therapy, Mindfulness and Mentalisation based therapy depending on individual need.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
