About me
Hi, I’m Karen, an accredited CBT therapist and a member of the BABCP, the lead organisation for cognitive and behavioural therapies in the UK and Ireland.
I’m passionate about working collaboratively with you to develop a shared understanding of your current difficulties — exploring how they may have developed, what may be maintaining them, and how we can begin to make meaningful changes.
I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and supported. Together, we will develop practical strategies to help you manage distress and move towards the life you want to live.
As an accredited BABCP member, I meet high standards of training and clinical experience, ensuring that I provide up-to-date, evidence-based CBT.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 19 years’ experience delivering psychological therapies, including working with individuals experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties. I currently work within an NHS trauma-informed clinical psychology service, supporting people with a wide range of mental health needs.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and have been delivering CBT interventions since 2009. While CBT is my primary therapeutic approach, I also integrate techniques from Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Mentalisation-Based Therapy, depending on individual needs.
I also have 9 years’ experience supporting individuals in their recovery from addiction.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
