About me

Sometimes we need someone completely external to our lives to trust and speak with honestly and openly with, to be genuinely listened to and heard, without fear of judgement, criticism or biased opinion, especially if we have anxiety, stress and low confidence, or if we are feeling lost or experiencing loss.

You can book a free, initial telephone consultation,  at a date and time that suits you from this link, so I can understand more about the support you would like to receive, and I can explain how I can help you: https://www.thehealingmind.co.uk/contact

I offer a warm and non-judgmental counselling support service so you can explore and process your thoughts, emotions, and challenges in your own way and so helping you with:

Emotional support: in a safe and confidential environment where you can express your thoughts, experiences, feelings and concerns. This allows you to release pent-up emotions, reducing anxiety and stress and so helping your emotional well-being.

Self-awareness and self-reflection: to help you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your thoughts, and your behaviours. This self-awareness helps you identify patterns, triggers, and underlying issues that may contribute to mental health difficulties and to support you to discover or rediscover yourself and your own needs.

Developing coping strategies: to manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges and where appropriate provide tools and techniques tailored to your specific needs, empowering you to navigate difficult situations and build resilience.

Identifying negative thoughts and beliefs: that can impact your mental health, together we can challenge their validity and support you to replace them with healthier, more realistic alternatives.

Building healthy relationships: giving you space to speak about relationship challenges with friends, family, and work colleagues, and providing an opportunity for you to explore communication styles, boundary-setting, and conflict resolution, fostering better connections with others.

Stress management techniques: such as relaxation exercises and mindfulness, to help you reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance your overall well-being.

Personal growth: helping you to believe and value yourself, to help you to build confidence in yourself and help you to realise that you are enough. Stop people-pleasing, and increase your feelings of self-worth. This can improve your career aspirations, and make the lifestyle changes that you are hoping to achieve.

Sessions can be face-to-face in my therapy room or alternatively, we can meet remotely via video-link, or by telephone; I also offer walk and talk support. Whatever way you choose to access counselling with me, you will be valued and respected.

Counselling sessions are 60 minutes long and can be short or long-term depending on your need.

You can see reviews and testimonials on Google and my website: www/thehealingmind.co.uk , here is a review from Google as an example:

"When looking for a therapist you are already unsure and in need of help so how do you know that person is going to be right for you, you don't you have to take a leap of faith. That is exactly what I did and I couldn't have chosen any better, Karen was very professional empathetic and always helped me to see things from a different perspective, so breaking down the issues that I had. It was a very emotional look into my life, and it turned out the things I thought were the problem actually weren't and through the counselling with Karen I was able to realise this and put those things in a box and move on. I can't praise and thank Karen enough for the help she gave me and if you need to take that leap of faith I can't recommend Karen enough."

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
