About me

Anxious or wary-I know that making the decision to seek therapy feels very daunting it can be fearful and you have to feel ready - let’s start now ..... if you prefer online - thats fine

Hello my name is KAREN -its good to talk and I am an experienced counsellor ready to listen - we all require our own time and space to talk about our anxiety and stresses however great or small we deem these to be. Has life become unmanageable? Have you no idea why you feel like this !!! Do you feel hopelessly lost? Are you feeling totally dissociated from yourself? How can you change this?  Lost all tolerance - angry and short fused -

It may seem scary contacting a therapist but you have taken the first step, give me a call - or if this feels too much - send me a CONFIDENTIAL email, sometimes it feels easier to write down our worries.

Are you stuck in a loop of anxiety and depression or feeling loss and grief and cant seem to move forward? We can sit together and gently untangle these emotions. Has your work/life balance become unmanageable - lets look at this. Destructive relationships - new relationships - ending relationships all place emotional pressures on us - can’t move on? Angry!

I also work within senior schools - years 7-11 and post 16 - with emotional problems increasing steeply in early teen years surrounding academic pressure and objectification and worries amplified by social media.   Eating disorders or self harm having a great impact on young adults - both male and female.

Couple relationship issues, grief, anxietyarrow-10x10.png and depressionarrow-10x10.png - when life becomes emotionally overwhelming, work, stress, exhaustion and depressionarrow-10x10.png can be explored in a safe, one to one, non judgemental environment, talking about these feelings may help.

Many people in the UK have consulted a Counsellor or psychotherapist amid the growing awareness of the need to take care of our emotional healtharrow-10x10.png. There is recognition of the need to bring insight into peoples lives and lifestyle situations, empowering the individual to develop their personality and achieve their full potential.

A short ten minute free assessment is offered free of charge at the beginning of your journey into therapy to establish your ease and comfort with myself as the therapist.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Counsellor working in the SE London and Kent area, currently working with individuals, young adults and couples facing separation, emotional or family difficulties. Experienced in how individuals form intimate relationships, developmental life stages and sticking points, areas regarding step families, extended families and separation and have recently increased my development and skills surrounding couples counselling.

I also work within senior schools - years 7-11 and post 16 - with emotional problems increasing steeply in early teen years surrounding academic pressure and objectification and worries amplified by social media.

I am a member of the BACP adhering to the code of ethics set by the Association.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
