About me

Hi, I’m Justina, a person-centred counsellor. You might be looking to work on something specific, or simply carrying a sense that things feel off. Whatever has led you here, I’m glad you’ve stopped by.

How I work

At the heart of my counselling practice is the relationship we create, one of trust, warmth and genuine presence. When nurtured, this connection becomes a space for healing – a place to slow down, explore, feel seen and understood.

I offer a calm, compassionate and reflective space to work through difficult experiences, process emotions and make sense of what may be happening beneath the surface. Together we might notice patterns of coping or relating that once made sense but are now limiting. I pay close attention to what feels difficult to express, what remains unsaid and how past experiences may continue to shape the present.

In this space, we can gently sit with uncertainty, figure out what feels true to you and how you would like to move forward. I bring curiosity and openness to the therapeutic process, taking time to explore and understand rather than rushing toward solutions. This process often deepens self-understanding and opens up ways of relating to yourself and others with greater trust, connection and ease.

My approach is grounded in intersectional awareness and understanding that who we are and what we carry is shaped not only by personal experience, but also by wider social contexts, power, racism, privilege, inequality, disability and discrimination. Recognising this is essential to understanding each person’s unique experience and the challenges or barriers they may be navigating.

I also believe that therapy doesn’t always have to be about the hard stuff. Counselling can also be a place to notice your strengths, reflect on what you’ve achieved and recognise the meaningful steps you’ve already taken. I believe there’s room for lightness and humour in this process too – because alongside the challenges, therapy also holds moments of joy, relief, connection and hope.

Is this right for you?

Many people feel hesitant about reaching out for counselling, often questioning whether what they are going through is “bad enough” to deserve support. However, I truly believe that whatever has prompted you to look for a counsellor is worthy of space and attention.

I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, or a feeling of being stuck. My work also includes supporting those carrying the effects of trauma and difficult past experiences, which may continue to show up as feelings of shame, guilt or self-doubt. I am interested in understanding how these experiences may connect and shape one another, sometimes in ways that are not immediately obvious. Together, we can gently explore this at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I also warmly welcome people exploring neurodivergence, identity, belonging, and LGBTQ+ experiences. This may involve ADHD or autism, experiences of masking, feeling different or misunderstood, reflecting on sexuality or gender, or trying to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your place in the world. My approach offers a supportive and affirming space to untangle these experiences, process their impact and move towards a way forward that feels meaningful and shaped by you.

Experience

Alongside my counselling practice, I bring over seven years’ of experience in the field of mental health, including the past five years working as an advocacy worker supporting people detained under the Mental Health Act and navigating complex experiences of psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and trauma. This has given me a deep understanding of the barriers people face when seeking support. It has shaped my counselling practice, grounding it in a trauma-informed and non-pathologising approach that seeks to understand people beyond labels, in the context of their lives, relationships and environments.

Getting in touch

Taking the step to reach out isn’t always easy, but if my approach resonates, I warmly invite you to get in touch and see whether we might be a good fit.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
