Juliet Bunting MBACP * Dip Couns* Cert Clinical Supervision (MIP)

Welcome to Juliet Bunting Counselling and Therapy Service where I have the pleasure of being able to offer you a warm, comforting and confidential service from my private therapy room at home in Newcastle. I have extensive experience providing therapeutic support to children, young people and adults. My background is diverse as I have worked within the criminal justice/leaving care system, integrated family support, child protection team and provided therapeutic counselling to young people in rehab.
Here I counsel children and families and I have a particular interest in counselling children and adults with Aspergers and helping those who have not been diagnosed to access the relevant services.
Relationship counselling is another service I provide and this is fast becoming very popular!
Some of the more presenting issues such as bereavement and loss, separation, anger, stress and anxiety, coming to terms with redundancy/retirement, terminal illness, spiritual meaning and purpose and weight management are just some of the difficulties I help my clients with.
I'm fortunate to be based two days a week in school providing counselling and family support where I hold a number of cases dealing with issues that include emotional behaviour, anger, Autism and attachment anxiety. This is an immensely satisfying role which brings a great deal of diversity each week! I enjoy providing one to one and family therapy, taking a holistic approach to identifying issues within the home, helping parents to change their behaviour and looking at diet and basic parenting techniques. It's not easy being a parent but I'll help you to make those positive changes if you're ready!
For those families caught up in the legal process of separation/divorce I work alongside Cafcass and Solicitors to provide Supervised Contact to those who have been court ordered and deliver one to one parenting programs which are tailor made to meet individual cases.
I will help you to build stronger relationships with each other (where possible) and help you to understand the impact this is having on the children. I have also delivered the Separated Parents Information Program to many parents which has seen positive outcomes. ** Please note I do not work for Cafcass I am privately funded by clients.
I also provide counselling to university students across the country either face to face or via Skype.
As a Clinical Supervisor I provide supervision for those working in the counselling field and to staff managing pastoral departments in schools.
If you are looking for ways to manage anxiety I can show you mindfulness and visualisation techniques that can help to ease your anxiety and help you to become more fully present in the moment with a clearer sense of clarity and focus. My main style of working is by incorporating Logotherapy and Existential therapy which offers clients a philosophical directive in looking at meaning and purpose in life. This is often a very beneficial and sustainable approach to dealing with crisis, trauma, anxiety and OCD. I also hold monthly meditation sessions focusing on these topics.
I hold a clean up to date enhanced DBS and professional indemnity and liability insurance which enables me to work anywhere.
Please don't hesitate to pick up the phone and contact me for an informal chat about how therapy may be of benefit to you. It would be lovely to hear from you!

What to expect at your first session with me:
The initial session is a great opportunity for you to see if I'm the right therapist for you. I encourage clients to ask any questions they like or to look at my qualifications/reviews to determine if I am the best person for their needs. If I'm not then I will sign post you to another therapist. I also look at some basic information about you such as presenting issues or any more urgent issues you wish to make me aware of on the day.
If you feel at ease and happy to continue then we can look at how many sessions you feel you'll need. Most clients, for example, block book 6 sessions and if they're feeling good and making progress then we can discuss the option of spreading the remaining 2 sessions out.
I'll discuss with you an outline of what the 6 weeks will consist of. For example, child therapy will include self-esteem, play and art therapy. For someone going through the transition in to retirement, I will offer my Therapy Through Meaning program which will be a more philosophical approach to meaning and purpose building personal confidence and ultimately feeling more empowered to manage life. Whichever therapy you choose you will then be given a contract and a consent form to sign along with a receipt for the payment made. Terms and conditions are available on request.
I'm based just off the A34 in Newcastle with local buses running frequently. I do have a private driveway for parking.
I hope that you will enjoy working with me as I will with you!
