About me

*Currently, there is an opportunity to join a weekly face to face clinical supervision  group  on Tuesdays in Aberystwyth. I enjoy working with a wide range of counsellors and psychotherapists who can benefit from reflecting on their work from a psychodynamic perspective

______________________

I offer Individual Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy as well as Clinical Supervision for professionals and Reflective Practice groups. To contact me it is best to use email first.

My training has extended alongside my practice for over 30 years. I have a wide experience of helping clients work through entrenched patterns or traumatic experiences to reach more resourceful and hopeful places in their lives.

Psychodynamic therapy can have a beneficial effect on many emotional difficulties including anxiety, depression and struggles in relating to others. Distressing issues may have suddenly appeared in your life or you may recognise you have been repeating unhelpful patterns for many years.

With the help of a trained and experienced therapist and a psychodynamic approach, much that has become overwhelming, confusing or stuck can begin to  change.

This is because the work can help address both the conflicts within ourselves as well as those we might experience in relating to others.

In therapy, it is possible to gain greater insight into what happens in our internal world and for this to influence how we are able to be in a relationship.

Psychodynamic Therapy can begin to bring about real and lasting changes towards more fulfilling ways of living. An assessment can provide an opportunity to explore options, including the length of therapy, individual in-person or online and/or joining a therapy group. I can also redirect if it seems none of these are suitable.

I am committed to providing a reliable service in which you have the space to explore any aspect of your life and to find the growth you need. It may be that this is your first time starting therapy, or that you have had difficult/rewarding experiences of therapy in the past. Either way, I aim to take your needs seriously. and respect the uniqueness of your journey.

I am able to offer help with a wide range of difficulties and if you are wondering if I might be able to help you, an initial appointment is the first step to finding out.

For Practitioners.

I am also able to provide supervision for therapists who would like to apply psychodynamic concepts to understanding the often complex dynamics which can arise in their work. This can be provided in individual /group sessions with the possibility of telephone or Zoom.

For Organisations.

I am able to provide Clinical Supervision/Reflective Practice groups which can help support employees who have challenging work settings

Group Therapy

Joining a Weekly Therapy group has been found to be effective because it provide the opportunity to interact with others in the therapy environment.

Therapy Groups can;

  • Help you realise you are not alone in your thoughts and feelings.

  • Provide the opportunity to recognise some helpful similarities and differences with others.

  • Allow you to gain insight into how you are seen by others.

  • Enable patterns of interaction within the group to come to light so that you can begin to change those which are no longer helpful to you.

  • Allow you to build your self-confidence through helping and being helped by others.

In order to explore whether a therapy group is right for you and ,if so ,to prepare you to get the most from the group, it is usual for us to meet at least twice prior to starting in the group. A new group will be starting in Aberystwyth and there are some low fee places if needed.
