About me

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it may be difficult to carry everything on your own. I offer a warm, welcoming and confidential space where you can explore whatever you are facing, at your own pace, without judgement. Together we can work to understand your experiences, helping you to gain clarity, develop coping strategies and move towards feeling more like yourself again.

My name is Julie Kellock and I am delighted to be part of At Your Side Therapy. I believe that having someone walk beside you during difficult times can make a meaningful difference, and I would feel privileged to support you on that journey.

I have experience working with adults, children and young people across a range of settings, supporting people with a variety of difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, anger, bereavement and life transitions.

I am particularly passionate about supporting children and young people. Using creative and play-based approaches where appropriate, I offer a compassionate space where they can explore their feelings and anxieties. Growing up in today’s world can bring many pressures, from school and friendships to social media and family changes, and therapy can provide a safe place for young people to make sense of these experiences.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist for Adults, Children and Young People. I have experience working in private settings and also in our third sector in various areas of counselling and therapeutic work, including groups and young people.
I am a certified Facilitator of the Brick-by-Brick Programme: Certified LEGO® brick based therapy supported by the LEGO Foundation. This programme encourages creative and dynamic approaches within the counselling space and is tailored to the needs of the individual. I am dedicated to offering a space for children and young people that can offer them a place to be 100% themselves, non judgmental and using tools such as LEGO® and other creative tools where appropriate to foster an open, relaxed environment. I have also completed further professional development in Suicide Prevention through Mind and Mission.

My qualifications are:

  • Bachelor of Science awarded by Stirling University
  • Counselling Skills Certificate awarded by COSCA (Counselling and Psychotherapy in
    Scotland)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy with Adults,
  • Children and Young People awarded by COSCA and S.M.I.L.E Counselling
  • Brick-by-Brick Certified Facilitator: LEGO® brick-based therapy training awarded by Play
  • Included and supported by The Lego Foundation

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
