About me

Looking for a therapist can be a big step. Lots to understand and navigate. Making the decision to seek therapy is the first step to making positive change, and finding the right therapist for you is an important one. I offer a confidential and safe space to gently explore what brings you to therapy.

As a Person-Centred practitioner, empathy, acceptance and honesty are at the core of my practice. I bring a warmth to the counselling room which allows my clients a safe place to explore whatever they bring. I believe that in viewing each person as an individual a unique process takes place, where, through active listening, healing can occur.

I have been a Counsellor for two decades and have been privileged to witness incredible growth in clients, many of whom had given up on the idea of any form of self-belief or self-acceptance.

I work with a wide range of issues. In particular working with trauma, complex PTSD, dealing with anxiety, anger, shame, guilt, flashbacks, nightmares etc. I have learnt that although past events cannot be changed, what can be altered over time is the relationship with your feelings in regard to the trauma and what you have grown to believe about yourself. I offer you my support in finding an inner place where you can feel comfortable with yourself

For some people it’s helpful to know this is your time, your pace, your direction - the whole process is tailored entirely to fit you. Working with your strengths, we look at where you've come from, where you are now, and where you want to be. It's a great learning and growing experience - viewing familiar issues from different angles, you can begin to develop insights that will free up decision-making, and unlock potential, both personal and professional. Ultimately giving yourself permission to live life with different choices.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
