Hello and Welcome
My name is Julie and I am an holistic counsellor based in Wokingham. I aim to provide a welcoming space where you feel safe to be yourself and share your concerns. I want to help you to feel that you are important, and your wants and needs are important. Unfortunately through our experiences in life we don't always feel that way, we can often put others before ourselves and get stuck in a pattern of negativity towards ourselves, thinking we are not good enough. Together we can talk through your thoughts and feelings to find your own self worth.
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning.
I wanted to share this quote with you, my aim is to help you find your space so you can choose how you want to be.
How can counselling help?
We all have times in our lives that we find difficult. We can find it hard to manage and feel very alone in our problems. Relationships with our partners or families may be challenging and breakdown, we may lose someone that we love and we can feel stress and pressure from the fast moving world we live in. Some of us have trauma held from our childhoods or from an experience out of our control that we still carry deep within us and affects how we live our lives today. These may all lead to feelings of confusion, sadness, anger or fear. We can start to feel overwhelmed, anxious, depressed and unable to cope. When we feel this way we often try to find ways to help ourselves to feel better turning to food, alcohol, drugs, self-harming. Unfortunately, sometimes our coping mechanisms don't seem to help and can cause us further problems.
How I work
Counselling gives you the space to explore all of these difficulties. I am passionate about the power of talking to be able to heal our emotional wounds that we hide from the world. Finding the right counsellor for you is important for you to feel safe and supported so I offer an initial free half hour zoom session for us to meet. I will provide a confidential, non-judgmental relationship and listen in the hope you feel heard and understood. I can support you to explore, understand and manage the difficult feelings, thoughts and issues you may be experiencing and help you to find your own path forward. Looking at what matters to you and what gives your life meaning. Together we can work towards any changes you would like to make so you can live the life that you want.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
