About me
How I can help you
Hi, I’m Julie and I'm an Integrative Counsellor at Warm Words Counselling. My approach is warm, friendly and compassionate. I provide a kind, non-judgemental environment where you’ll feel comfortable to be yourself. I’ll support you to talk about past or current difficulties which are impacting you and your mental health.
I offer face-to-face sessions in North Leeds, and online/telephone sessions too. Whichever you choose, you'll be at the heart of the sessions. What I hope is that you feel heard and valued right from the start, and as sessions progress, you begin to notice gradual changes in yourself which mean you’re growing and developing towards your goals.
Who I work with
I'm passionate about supporting people through difficult times in their lives and I work with clients with a wide range of presenting issues. These include:
- Anxiety - stress, panic attacks. worrying too much, overthinking, catastrophising, procrastination.
- Low self-esteem, low self-worth, lack of confidence, feeling not good enough.
- Depression, low mood.
- Feeling lost, alone or stuck - wanting more out of life.
- Bereavement, grief and loss, break up, divorce.
- Trauma and its effects.
- Relationship and family issues.
We can all experience times in our lives when we feel distressed or out of sorts. Life is busy and challenging, so finding time to look after ourselves can be really difficult. Counselling can help you to prioritise your needs, to understand yourself better and to find ways of coping or moving forward.
How I work
During our sessions, I will help you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. This can bring you clarity when you might be feeling confused or overwhelmed. Many clients say they feel lighter because they’re no longer carrying the burden of their struggles alone. Discussing possible choices can help you to make positive changes, to take back some control and to feel less stuck.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I implement a number of different counselling approaches and techniques to meet my clients' individual needs (including CBT). This means sessions are very personalised. As a registered member of the BACP, I work in accordance with its ethical framework, meaning my approach is always safe and ethical.
Whatever is troubling you, please get in touch for a free, initial telephone call. I’ll be happy to talk to you about counselling without any obligation. At the same time, you can decide whether you feel I am the right person for you to work with.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
