Julie Burn Counselling Registered Member MBACP (Accred)
Hi, my name is Julie and I am a counsellor based in the centre of Stirling. In my role as a counsellor I aim to provide a safe and comfortable space in which clients can explore and work through issues that are causing them distress. I work in a non-judgemental manner and pride myself on fostering relationships with clients based on mutual trust and respect.
People choose counselling for many different reasons. Oftentimes sharing our worries and concerns with a stranger, in a safe, non-judgemental environment, can be easier and bring more honesty than confiding in a friend or relative, who we often don't wish to burden with our issues. Trained in many different counselling approaches, I am able to best meet my clients' individual needs. Some clients require a safe and nurturing space in which to talk in confidence about past or present concerns; whereas others may feel stuck in some area of their lives and require a more action-based style of counselling to help move them forward.
I have proven success working with anxiety, depression, addiction, self-harm, bereavement, loss, relationship issues, eating disorders, poor body-image and anger management. Low self-esteem and poor confidence are areas in which I have a particular interest. Many clients hold themselves back in life because of these issues and I have much experience working with clients on boosting self-esteem and improving low self-confidence. As well as individual counselling sessions I also work with couples; providing support and encouragement as each partner begins the process of raising concerns with openness and honesty.
My background is as a high-school counsellor and I worked in this role, in both the UK and America, for many years so I am experienced and comfortable working with the adolescent population and regularly counsel young people within my practice.
If you think you would benefit from counselling, please contact me. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you and offer you the support, empathy and encouragement you need as you begin the process of making changes, moving forward, and becoming the person you would most like to be.
