About me
Life gets tough, and we can make it even more difficult when we overthink and don’t say what’s on our mind. We always fear burdening others.
We might be trying to make sense of complications in our lives, past experiences or figuring out the way forward. This is an opportunity to make changes you’ve wanted to see for a long time and break patterns of behaviour that are hurting you.
We can work with anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, menopause, confidence, family life, motherhood, parenthood and all the things life throws at us. Please see my website for an easy-to-navigate tour of how I might be able to help.
About me
Thank you for your interest in counselling and therapeutic coaching with me. I’m a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means I follow an ethical framework ensuring your safety and wellbeing is at the heart of our work.
I am an ILM endorsed Life Coach, I take a Person-Centred theoretical approach providing the right environment for you to thrive by understanding, valuing and accepting you for who you are. Often coaching and counselling work together seamlessly so we can use the right type of therapy when you need it.
I am also a mum, daughter, divorcee, flawed human and creative DIY enthusiast.
Theoretical Framework
Person-centred therapy is a humanistic approach and was founded by an American Psychologist in the 1940s called Carl Rogers. He believed that everyone is capable of reaching their full potential and can “self-actualise” if they have the right support and environment.
Counselling and coaching is very much about our relationship and you being at the centre of it. We will work on the issues pertinent to you. I will not lead or advise, but work with you to explore your world. We will delve into how you think and feel about aspects of your experiences, how healthy your boundaries are, and help you build positive relationships with yourself and others.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Which therapy do I need?
You may know exactly what you want, or you may be thinking "but I need them all?". A very rudimentary way of working it out would be to consider how much of the past you want to explore, and how focused you are on the future. If we are exploring past experiences and trying to unpick the impact they've had on your life, then counselling is probably the best option for you. If you want to "get on with it" and focus on your goals - whilst still exploring the elements of the past that are blocking you - then coaching might be the way forward.
Often my clients find coaching useful towards the end of counselling; using counselling to understand how their thoughts and behaviours have been affected by past difficulties, and coaching to help them implement change.
We can work out what's best together during our assessment, so no need to worry if you're not sure just yet.
