About me

I am Julia, a qualified professional integrative counselling therapist, registered with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

My therapeutic work is grounded in compassion, authenticity and respect. I believe that every person deserves to be listened to without judgement and supported with care and .

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs and circumstances. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy - we are all shaped by our unique experiences, relationships, beliefs and personal histories.

My role is to offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly.

Sessions are led by how you are feeling and how you want to feel. Together we will explore what is troubling you, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, identify strategies for coping and move towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a qualified professional integrative counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches to work with you. I provide a safe and supportive, non judgemental space, where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly and honestly.

I work with adults who are facing challenges in life, offering space to navigate difficulties including anxiety, depression, low self esteem, feelings of difference, loss and grief.

Prior to qualifying as a counsellor, I worked in business for twenty years. This experience has given me an insight into work place pressures including stress, burnout, low self confidence, imposter syndrome, career transitions and other work life pressures - including retirement and redundancy.

Alongside this I understand the unique challenges that arise during mid life change including menopause, changing relationships, empty nest feelings, caring responsibilities, loneliness, identity shifts and anxiety and stress about what comes next.

I have trained in Pregnancy and Infant Loss and have experience of working with loss and grief around infertility and miscarriage.

Childhood experiences may impact current adult patterns of behaviour, and I work with the impact of this including attachment styles. I have particular experience and interest in the impact of boarding school on adult life.

Through my counselling practice I am committed to supporting you in life’s challenges, and working together to find a more fulfilling and balanced way forward.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
