About me
I offer a warm, empathetic fully confidential counselling service. My practice office is a set aside work room within my home, which is wheelchair accessible. We have ample roadside parking outside the property. It is cool in hot weather and has a cosy log burner to ensure that it is both warm and welcoming in the colder months. There are adjoining bathroom facilities should they be required. (Not wheelchair accessible).
I began my career as a secondary school teacher, but after taking a break to have children I decided to retrain in psychotherapeutic counselling. I volunteered for several years for local counselling charity, The Magdalene Project, which offers long term counselling primarily to victims of trauma.
I am able to offer counselling on many issues, including but not exclusive to; trauma, relationships, anxiety and depression, bereavement, and neurodiversity.
I have completed training provided by the Foundation for Infant loss in order to offer counselling to parents who have lost an infant, including miscarriage, still birth and sudden infant death syndrome. I have significant experience of working with trauma and emotionally unstable personality disorder (previously known as Borderline personality disorder). I also have a great deal of experience in working with Autism and make my practice Autism friendly. I have extensive experience in counselling clients on the Autistic spectrum, diagnosed with ADHD, and to carers of Autistic individuals.
I have recently worked successfully with couples experiencing relationship issues. Although I find it helpful to see couples separately, I have previously gone on to work them together when requested.
I update my training on an ongoing basis, and seek to identify and understand any medical or other diagnosis brought into therapy by the client in order to better understand and walk with them on their journey.
Please contact me to discuss anything you wish to bring to therapy.
