About me

SOMETIMES WE ALL NEED A SAFE, NON-JUDGMENTAL PLACE TO TALK simply because we are human and life can be tough.  I am hugely passionate about supporting people to become happy and comfortable with who they are so that they can better cope with whatever comes their way.

When you can't see the wood for the trees counselling can support you to unravel confused thinking and process difficult emotions at a pace that is comfortable for you.

I can offer short & long term support with most issues including anxiety, depression or have suffered trauma recently or in the past.

About me and my Counselling Approach:

I am 47 with a family and love the outdoors and animals.  I work with adults and children and can offer talk therapy, walk and talk outside and animal assisted therapy with my dog.  We can also incorporate creative activiites such as sandplay and art if this interests you.  Creative activities can allow the expression of emotions that are hard to put into words, such non-verbal expressions can have a powerful impact at any age.  What is of utmost importance is that you are comfortable with whatever we do.

My work is termed ‘integrative’ because I incorporate different counselling approaches in my work (mainly Person Centered, Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Transactional Analysis models) depending on what best works for you. I see these approaches as simply offering different perspectives on life because different ways of looking at things at different times can be beneficial.

Above everything, the quality of the interaction between us is the most crucial factor in this work. This is why I feel it is important for me to offer you an initial, free, half hour session so that you can decide if you would like to work with me.

I offer counselling / psychotherapy, in North Devon near Holsworthy, aprox. 1/2 hr from Bude, Bideford, Launceston with adults, adolescents & children.

Your first 1/2 hour session is free.  Please contact me by text, phone or email.

Training, qualifications & experience

My Qualifications

I have a BSc (hons) degree, A Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology and an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling (This qualifies me to do counselling / psychotherapy).

I am also an accredited member of The National Counselling Society. This is one of the organisations that set the ethical standards for our work and members must have the correct qualifications.

I also hold a current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance for working with children in Devon.

My Experience

I run a private practice where I see adults, adolescents and children.  I also have experience of working with adults at The Dartmoor Center in Newton Abott and with children in schools (often play based therapy).

I also teach a diploma about working with young people & children to other professionals as a National Counselling Society tutor.
