About me

Hey now. And welcome. I'm Joe.

An integrative therapist. BSc. Having trained at the Sherwood Institute.

My wish here is to really connect with you. And find out your story.

I feel that therapy should be natural. Keeping it real. Keeping it simple.

Our relationship is at the core of the work. Hoping to help gain awareness, for a deeper enjoyment of life. The space I offer is a cosy room in a beautiful building on the outskirts of the city. In our sessions I aim to work in the here-and-now, forever curious, and fully open to the spontaneity of our connection. We move at your pace, exploring at relational depth. I bring humour and enthusiasm, calm and a light touch. I also come with a lot of lived experience and am no stranger to the hard knocks of life.

I know, that taking that first step into the therapy room is the hardest - but once you do, I am here for you.

My ways of working. To add to my formal Humanistic training. I work with a blend of mindfulness, Gestalt, Jungian Psychology, philosophy, literature, and dream-work. I am fascinated by the mysteries of the unconscious, and the unknown forces which can direct our lives. I can also work with goal-setting and motivation, improving the clarity of thought by using a range of practical cognitive techniques.

I have published three novels so creativity is also something which runs through my approach.

My foundation is working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, so I am sensitive to the complexities of trauma.

So, let's meet and see how we roll.

Whatever your story, I look forward to meeting you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
