About me
I'm a professional therapist trained in a broad range of theoretical models and therapeutic techniques and I offer counselling and psychological support. My working approach is broadly person-centred but with a strong psychodynamic dimension at deeper levels of client engagement.
I bring many years of diverse lived experience to my practice, including human rights and social justice campaigning, which exposed me to a wide array of peoples, identities, cultures and human-centred issues. Time spent in some of the world's most difficult places among people facing existential challenges of every sort showed me the remarkable capacity of human beings to reach for hope, connection and meaning regardless of circumstances. When Covid years brought everything to a halt, and as mental health became an ever more urgent crisis, I decided to retrain in order to engage my people skills and passion for the human quest to thrive in a more personal and focused context.
My entire life has been consumed by the mystery of existence and by the search for some sense of meaning and purpose. My training has provided a more formal set of skills to deepen a passion for human connection, both with self and the world, that has always been present. It is now a privilege to be part of other people's committed effort to heal and to grow.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified after 3 years of study with a professional diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling which included clinical work with both children and adults.
I am also a certified hypnotherapist which provides an additional option for the interested client who may prefer a more relaxed approach to confronting their problems.
I have a particular interest in anxiety and depression, stress/burnout, relationship difficulties and the particular mental health challenges associated with neurodiversity.
I currently work with a wellbeing partnership in online counselling and seek more face to face work if possible within a private practice setting.
