About me
Hello, I'm Jon. I am a qualified Humanistic Counsellor and I provide talk therapy that's rooted in the Person-Centred approach - which means that you and your experiences will remain at the core of everything we do.
My role as your therapist will be to provide a safe and comfortable space for you to explore the issues that feel most important to you, free from any pressure or judgement. We will always work at your pace.
I currently have availability for in-person therapy in Chichester on Tuesdays, though occassional telephone/online sessions can be arranged in instances where in-person isn't possible.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length and usually occur weekly, but other arrangements such as fortnightly sessions can be negotiated.
The therapy I offer is open-ended, allowing you to have as many or as few sessions as you feel you need. However, a set number of sessions can be agreed upon if preferred.
First Session:
Seeking support can be a daunting process, and so I offer a free initial 15-minute phone call where we can briefly explore what has brought you to therapy, and you can get a sense of what our work together might look like. Then, you can decide if you'd like to move forward and book a first session with me.
To arrange this initial chat, simply use the links at the top of my profile to either email me or book an intro call directly.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified Humanistic Counsellor, with a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling and a Certificate in Counselling Skills (Level 2 & 3). I'm also a registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
Outside of my private practice, I am a Senior Emotional Support Worker for a mental health charity for young people in Chichester.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
