About me

Sometimes we all need a bit of help – someone to talk to who really hears us, someone to help us make sense of upsetting thoughts and untangle complicated feelings.

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist in East Finchley and Highgate, North London, working with anxiety, trauma, depression, loss and other mental health challenges.

I offer supportive, non-judgemental sessions in which you can be truly heard so we can sort out what’s bothering you.

We will talk about any troublesome thoughts and feelings you might be having, and we will look at events, relationships and patterns in your life presently and in the past and how they might be connected. Bringing these things into the light, becoming aware of why you might be feeling a certain way, is empowering and can help you manage.

I am a registered member (MBACP) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework.

I use evidence-based therapeutic methods which are proven effective, including psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy and elements of cognitive therapy and person-centred counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I originally studied psychology and humanities in the United States, and I gained my UK psychodynamic therapy qualifications at Britain's oldest counselling service, which is also a respected training centre. I also trained in person-centred counselling techniques at a charity that works alongside the NHS to provide face-to-face support to people who are suicidal. I hold a BACP Accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling as well as a Certificate in Psychological First Aid from Johns Hopkins University.

My clinical experience is broad, including work with adults suffering from anxiety disorders, depression, redundancy, loss, abuse (child, sexual, spousal and psychological) and other traumas, personality disorders, self-harm, and difficulties with gender identity and sexual orientation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
